OTEPTA June 2010 Newsletter

Congratulations to our 8^th grade graduates & 4^th grade crossing over!

May has been an extremely busy and productive month so we thank the following committee heads and their volunteers:  Denise Fleming (Staff & Teacher Appreciation Week), Nicole Gray (CDW Buy 1 Get 1 Free Spring Book Fair), Robin Bogdanoff & Rita DeBenedetto  (TBD Author in Residence), Grace Greenberg (Spring Fling), Joanne Nesi (CDW Author in Residence), Linda Arturi & Eileen Clune (TBD Buy 1 Get 1 Free Spring Book Fair), Amy Ackerman & Tammy Weis (Read-A-Thon), Jackie Dorney and Tammy Weis (Box Tops for Education), Meg Loudon (Scholarships), and Crystal Fernandez (Field Day).  None of these activities would have been possible without your hard work!

The OTEPTA Executive Board for 2010-2011 are Gwen Crystal (3^rd VP, TBD Class Parents), Jo-Ann Forcellati (Recording Secretary),  Liz Germano (Corresponding Secretary), Heather Mauro (President), Kerry Newman (1^st VP, By Laws & Procedures), Chris Meier (Treasurer), Lori Rabenou (3^rd VP, CDW Class Parents), Kristen Santoro (2^nd VP, Ways and Means), and Michele Werner (2^nd VP, Ways & Means).  Special thanks to outgoing executive board members, Michelle Han and Kristine Lee for their dedication and hard work.

Final reminder to return the School Kidz school supply orders ASAP.  Order forms and boxes are conveniently placed by Mrs. Fox’s desk at TBD and Mrs. Rosica’s desk at CDW for you to drop off you orders.  Kindly make checks payable to OTEPTA.

You should receive your OTEPTA Summer Mailing package by 6/9/10.  Kindly review and return forms by 6/22/10 to the OTEPTA Mailbox, 275 Old Tappan Rd.

June promises to be just as busy with the following reminders:

June 3 & 4, Thurs-Fri – 8^th grade trip to Philadelphia.  Depart Thursday @ 7:15am and return Friday at 5pm.  Please be prompt at drop off and pick up.

June 4, Fri – Kindergarten Round Up 1:30pm @ TBD

June 7, Mon – Dialogue with Mrs. Connelly, 9am @ TBD; 8^th gr BBQ NVOT @ 5-7pm

June 8, Tue – CDW International Food Festival, lunch time

June 10, Thurs - TBD Spring Concert, 7pm (3^rd gr chorus, 4^th gr chorus, & 4^th gr band)

June 15, Tue – 8^th gr Spanish final

June 16, Wed – 8^th gr Math & Science final

June 17, Thurs – 8^th gr Language Arts final; 8^th gr Pool Party @ Stony Brook Swim Club in Hillsdale, 12-4pm (8^th gr will be dismissed @ 11:30am).  Rain date for Pool Party is 6/18.

June 17, Thurs –3^rd Grade Play, TBD @ 7pm

June 18, Fri - 8th gr Ice Cream Social & yearbook distribution, during school hours

June 21, Mon – 8^th gr Social Studies final

June 22, Tue – 8^th gr Parent/Graduate Breakfast, CDW New Gym @ 8:30-10am

June 23, Wed – 8^th gr Awards Ceremony (students only) and 8^th gr report cards

June 24, Thurs – 12:30 Early Dismissal;  4^th gr Crossing Over, 9am @ TBD;  8^th gr Graduation, 5:30pm @ NVOT;  8^th gr Graduate Dinner/Dance, Valley Brook Golf Club, River Vale, 8pm-Midnight

June 25, Fri – LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, 12:30pm Early Dismissal, report cards K-7

The last day of school also marks the end of my tenure as president of the OTEPTA.  The last two years have been an incredible learning experience.  Thank you for your generosity, support and help. Have a wonderful Summer!
